Well today really has been beyond amazing. I know it's not technically a day trip, but I am coming back in the morning 😂
So... What does it cost?
LGW - Zurich Was £32.98 Basel - LGW was about £22 All day travelcard, valid on all public transport across Switzerland CHF 39* Cable Car to the Eiger CHF 32* Hotel : CHF 102
*I have a Swiss Pass which gets me 50% off all public transport in Switzerland including cable cars and some ski lifts.
Flight out left at 07:05 and landed at 09:30, train From the airport to Interlaken Ost, then the rack and pinion railway to Grindelwald Terminal - took 3 hours all together. Get the cable car from Terminal to Eiger and enjoy the view!
I was treated to an aeriel display by the Swiss air force too
I then wondered around Grindelwald itself and got some chocolate etc, before returning to Basel which took 2.5 hours. Hotel in Basel and a bit of sightseeing which includes going over in to France and Germany (but I didn't cross in to France, just went very very close to it (in fact about 1mm literally - see photos) Flight home in the morning is at 1030am. Basel to LGW.
An absolutely breathtaking day out. No wonder I'm so addicted to 🇨ðŸ‡
