Took a trip over to Dublin for the day 🇮🇪

Went with my 72 year old uncle 😁

✈️ Flights - Booked 2 weeks before we went, £29.99 per person. Didn't pay for seats and my uncle was seated in the row behind me

🚌 Transfer - Once we landed, we walked through the airport and across the road over to Terminal 2. Theres a shop on the left at the far end which you can purchase an all day travel card for 8 (tip found from another writeup 👍). Then walked to the bus stops outside and used Google Maps to find which bus went to the city.

It took about 45 minutes to get from the airport to the city. We were walking the streets of Dublin by 8.30am ☀️

🎫 We didn't plan to do anything as such, but while walking I had a look to see if there were any tickets for Kilmainham Gaol. It was all sold out, but the website said additional tickets may be released between 9.15am-9.30am. Luckily, there were a few tickets available so we booked to visit at 12pm. It cost 8 for myself, and 6 for my uncle as a senior.

We went for a walk and headed towards the Temple Bar area. We ended up in a cafe called Buzz Temple Bar, opposite The Temple Bar, and had a nice hot chocolate to warm us up. We carried on strolling around just taking everything in. Before we knew it, we needed to head to Kilmainham Gaol. Quick look on Google Maps at what bus we needed to get and a short walk to the stop and we were on our way.

🏛 Kilmainham Gaol - Absolutely fantastic value for money and interesting to walk around and see. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and explained the story behind the old prison. Would definitely recommend a visit to Kilmainham Gaol!

🍺 We headed back to Temple Bar and had a pint in The Temple Bar. It was very busy as it was now early afternoon as opposed to earlier in the day.
It was packed inside and had a traditional irish band playing which sounded amazing. We would of loved to of spent some time there but it was just too busy.
Very expensive for a pint of Guinness - 9 😮 so we only stayed for one and moved on 😂

We carried on walking and went to SuperMacs for a late lunch. We ended up in O'Reilly's Bar & Lounge for a couple drinks before heading back to the airport for our flight home.

We got a little confused getting back to the airport with Google Maps. It directed us to a bus stop for the Dublin Express, which is not included on our travel passes. Obviously, Google Maps didn't know this and we had trouble finding a correct bus. We found one in the end and was a little late getting to the airport - we were aiming for 2 hours before but was about 1hr 30mins which was fine as we flew through security in plenty of time.

We had a great day out and spent less than £100 each in total including flights. We could have planned more and booked more. My uncle is rather fussy and didn't want to visit the Guinness Storehouse or anything like that so we just took it as it came.
