MAN - COPENHAGEN Sunday 4th Feb
🚗 Parked Crowne plaza £18 via YourParkingSpace app ✈️ 8am, landed 10.30am ✈️ 21.30pm, landed 22.30pm
Cost £45 return, out on Ryanair and back on EasyJet. No delays. No cash needed, paid for everything on my Chase card.
Downloaded the Dot app as recommended in this group which allowed 12 hours unlimited travel on trains, buses and metro for £5.73 (50DKK) each and caught the train from the airport to København Hovedbanegård.
Outside this station was the 2a bus to Refshaleøen as my son wanted to go to the Copenhagen Contemporary museum. £13 ish for entrance for adults and free for under 18’s. Very family oriented in there. Area is quite strange, a bit like a zombie apocalypse 😂 but all very safe. In the warmer months there is an outdoor food market near here. Quick hop back on the bus (which came every 5 mins) to Christiania, a hippy enclave and alternative community which is like nothing I’ve seen before. Had lunch in the cafe here £26 for 2 of us, then walked along the river to Nyvaven to see the famous coloured houses.
Then walked via a few palaces to see the little mermaid statue 🧜♀️ Small but it attracted quite a crowd. Walked back into the city and went to see the Round Tower but as it was getting dark, we decided not to go up it. Got a box of noodles to eat (£8) and then made our way back to the airport via the metro then the train (due to M2 line closing) around 6.30pm as it was raining.
Copenhagen reminded me a lot of Amsterdam but less busy 🤩
Copenhagen airport is enormous! It took probably 20 minutes to get to our gate after security (cheap flights = furthest gate away) so be warned and when we arrived in the morning, there were big queues at passport control.
Food and drink I found expensive, drinks not as much as the food, but we were only there for the day so it wasn’t too bad. 🇩🇰
