Our 30hrs in Bucharest 🇷🇴

We landed around 11am on Friday and headed straight to the Therme via bolt for £4.60. We did have a bit of trouble getting a bolt, had several cancel as we couldn’t figure out where we supposed to meet them outside arrivals so we walked to departures and managed to get one there. We arrived at the Therme around 12ish. I won’t go into too much detail about the Therme as there are lots of reviews on this page already. It was fairly busy however was still very relaxing and not overcrowded, still managed to do everything we wanted. Altogether we spent £103 (£51.50pp) inside the Therme between the 2 of us on towel/gown hire, food, drinks and the massage beds. We absolutely loved the Therme and would definitely recommend it and will definitely go back!

We left the Therme about 7pm and easily got a bolt to our hotel in the city for £10.95. We then headed out for a quick dinner at La Mama’s which was delicious and cost £27.50 for 2 mains, 2 sides, and a drink each.

Now for the real review, Bucharest city! Honestly absolutely loved the city, if you are going to Bucharest for the Therme, I HIGHLY recommend going into the city! The vibe in the old town is amazing, lots of places down the cobble streets to sit outside and have a drink. We sat and had some drinks in the old town outside under some heaters whilst listening to some street performers who were brilliant, and the atmosphere was great, 4 cocktails cost £13.65pp (all prices include a 10% service charge, tipping between 10-15% seems to be the norm in Romanian from what we could gather). Lots and lots of places to eat, we had a delicious breakfast in a place called bread and butter (£11.95pp). We had lunch at the Grand Van Gogh cafe and the French toast was probably the best I’ve had so far , the white hot chocolates were also pretty good (£11.35pp). And dinner at Manuc’s inn in the cellar, not only was the food delicious, the cellar was stunning. We got 2 mains, 4 sides and a big bottle of water for £15.80pp.

The architecture is stunning, we went inside the Romanian Athenaeum, there is a door to the right of the building and for a small fee you can go inside (£1.70pp) and it’s probably the most stunning building I’ve been in so far! The parliament building is huge, I was gutted we weren’t able to get tickets to tour inside but gives me a reason to go back! I loved just wandering around the streets looking at all the different buildings! We got a bolt back to the airport for £10.80 for our flight back to stansted.

Flights from stansted were £37pp return Parking at stansted £18pp 1 night accommodation £28pp Therme 1 day all areas pass £32pp

Overall including everything above, we spent a total of £250pp with no expenses spared (we ate and drank quite a bit ) so could be done much cheaper.

We are already planning to go back in summer for a long weekend to visit the numerous parks around the city, to tour the castles and visit Brasov, enjoy the atmosphere of the old town and probably the Therme again 😂
